The history of the decobau corporate group
The story of the Decobau group of companies / Deco Grundbesitz AG begins in 1970 when Manfred Demczenko († 1994) started a workshop / a business focusing on the renovation of old buildings. The business was successfully expanded in the mid-1980s to include smaller development projects in the Baden-Württemberg (South Germany) region.
Since the mid-1990s, the property development business has become a crucial focus of the company. At that time, under the leadership of the current chairman of the board, Dietmar Demczenko, properties with more than 200 units were developed and successfully opened.
At the beginning of 2001, the corporate form was changed from GmbH to AG. Anita Demczenko (mother) became the chairman of the supervisory board and Dietmar Demczenko became the chairman of the board. Until today, 100% of shares belong to the Demczenko family.
After this reorganisation, the company started investing more in the purchase and sale of residential portfolios, including administration and property management. Affordable housing became the main focus of the business.
Deco Grundbesitz AG now manages more than 1,000 apartments in its own portfolio and for clients. Our business partners range from apartment investors to listed real estate companies.
Deco Grundbesitz AG remains a family company. Mr Nicolay Manfred Demczenko — the third generation of the family's entrepreneurs — has been involved in the company since 2016, and became a member of the management team in 2017.
